VISITATION FAQ'S

Q: What can I bring in for the inmates?
A: ONLY medications (must be in original prescription bottles) will be accepted.  Hygiene items, underwear, etc. must be purchased through the jail commissary.  Reading materials will be furnished through the jail library.

Q: When is visitation?
A: Video Visitation is Sunday – Saturday, 9:00am – 11:30am, 1:00pm – 4:30pm, and 6:00pm to 10:00pm. By appointment only, made 24 hours in advance. Visitation is scheduled thru the Securus Website.

Q: What do I need to do to visit an inmate?
A: You must make an account with Securus Technologies.  You must have a valid picture I.D. when you create that account.  This account can be created at https://securustech.net/

Q: How long will I be able to visit?
A:
Visitations are 20 minutes. Each inmate gets TWO 20 minute visit per week.

Q: Can I bring in items during the holidays for my family member in jail?
A: No. We do not accept food or gifts during the holidays for inmates.

Q: Can an inmate call me from the jail?
A:  Yes. Inmates have access to a phone from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm each day.  We have a special jail phone system and all calls are collect. They will be billed to the person receiving the call.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has collect telephones in all housing units within the facility. Many questions have arisen about receiving phone calls and what to do when a problem is encountered.

The inmate phone system is provided and maintained by Securus Technologies, and services and billing information are handled by Correctional Billing Services. They may be contacted 24 hours a day 7 days a week by any of the following means:

Q: Do you accept incoming calls for inmates?
A: No.

Q: Do you release warrant information over the phone?
A: You can obtain information about whether or not an individual has a warrant by checking the court dockets. Access their website via the link below. Enter the individual’s information and click on search. Once you find and select the case, go to the “Dockets” section. For further clarification, you may call the clerk’s office.

A person suspecting they may have a warrant may also check, in person, at the Jail. They will need to bring with them a state-issued I.D. or driver’s license to check on a warrant.

MAIL

Q: Do you accept mail for the inmates?
A: Yes, it must be sent through the U.S. Postal Service. All incoming mail should be addressed to the inmate and mailed c/o Wayne County Jail, 201 W. North St., Wooster OH  44691. You must include your return address.

Q: Can I bring in a letter for you to give to my friend in jail?
A:
No. All incoming mail must go through the U.S. Postal Service.

Q: Can I send a package to my friend in jail?
A: No. We only accept letters or greeting cards through the mail.

Q: Can inmates write to people while they are in jail?
A:
Yes. It must be sent out through the U.S. Postal Service.

Q: Can I send pictures to an inmate?
A: Yes. Inmates are allowed a total of four pictures in their cells. If an inmate is found with pictures exceeding this limit, they will be placed in their personal property.

COMMISSARY

Q: How can I put money on commissary?
A:  Phone (866) 345-1884, www.inmatedeposits.com  or Money order through the mail (201 W. North Street, Wooster, Ohio 44691)

Q: Can I purchase commissary for the inmates?
A: Yes. The Securepak program allows you to order commissary for an inmate. SECUREPAK WEBSITE

Q: How much money can I put in an inmate’s commissary account?
A: Any amount is acceptable.

Q: Can inmates with no money purchase items through commissary?
A: Yes. Inmates can purchase hygiene items, writing materials, and under garments through our indigent program.

OTHER

Q: Do you accept personal checks?
A: No. We only accept cash or money orders.

Q: Are religious services and counseling available in jail?
A: Yes. Church service, religious counseling and minister visits are available in the Wayne County Jail.

Q: Can inmates continue their employment while they are in jail?
A: This is up to the judge and must be handled by the inmate’s attorney or public defender through the Probation Department.

Q: Can inmates receive counseling while they are in jail?
A: Yes. We have mental health and alcohol counselors available. AA meetings are also available.

Q: Can inmates receive their medications while they are in jail?
A: Yes. We have a medical staff available and inmates can receive their personal medications.
