Civil Process

The Civil Division of the Sheriff’s Office is responsible for serving court-related documents from the Wayne County Common Pleas Court and also assisting in the Wayne County Municipal Court in the services of court orders. There are also many civil papers that are served through our Civil Division that have been sent by foreign county courts.

Requirements for Service of Papers (State of Ohio only)
  • Papers to be served (original and a copy)
  • Self-addressed and stamped envelope
  • Special instructions
  • Send to the address above with Attn: Civil Division

     

Out of State Requirements
  • $15 cashier's check or certified check payable to Wayne County Sheriff (a refund or additional bill may be issued depending on mileage required to serve paper.)  
  • Complete copy of the paperwork
  • Self-addressed and stamped envelope
  • Certification of Service (link below) completed by your clerk of court's office
  • Notary paperwork (if required by your state)
  • Special instructions
  • Send to the address above with Attn: Civil Division
Civil Protection Order (CPO)
  • All protection orders must have the CPO Informational Sheet (link below) in order to be served.  If this sheet is not attached, we will return the paperwork back with no service.
